Kayla Oldham
Principal Landscape Architect
Kayla Oldham is an award-winning licensed Landscape Architect who has created landscapes all over the world. She spent the first eight years of her career at the premier landscape company of OLIN in Philadelphia designing customized exterior spaces for such notable places as University of Washington, the U.S. Embassy in Brazil, Origin Park in Clarksville, Indiana, as well as many other commercial and residential properties.
Kayla works from a love of nature, and a belief that outdoor spaces should be intentionally designed for their purpose as well as to inspire moments of beauty and reflection. All of her projects start by spending time understanding intentions, studying nearby building interactions, and extensive research on the purposes and precedents.
As part of her designs, she believes in extraordinary planting plans with an eye on maintenance resources. Kayla is interested in reaching beyond the normal and treats each project as a space that can be more than imagined.
Recently, Kayla has taken her exceptional experience and ideas to create her own landscape architectural firm, Firefly Exteriors. She is partnering with architects to create commercial outdoor spaces, as well as imagining beautiful ideas with nonprofit and residential clients.

Tessa Hall Combs
Organically capturing that sense of wonder, joy, discovery, and peace drives Tessa's designs with a detailed focus on the client’s needs. Specific attention is given to accessibility, longevity, and sensorial designs.
Tessa’s experiences span complex projects from civic spaces, urban planning interventions, re-wilding urban centers, institutional athletic fields, and public-school playgrounds to the more intimate projects of therapeutic gardens, residences, and dog parks.
At Firefly Exteriors, Tessa works with both the design side and the field side, helping those who need it conceptualize low-maintenance, high-quality answers.
Draftsperson and Photographer
Melissa Donald
Melissa Donald's attention to detail and ability to visually communicate combines to bring quality drafting services to Firefly.
Melissa has a varied background providing services in many different settings, giving her both commercial and residential experience.
Her previous positions in creative arts and photography for media make her a well-rounded creator. Attention to detail was honed through photography editing.
With her help, Firefly offers drawing sets for builders, supplying information for permits and calculations.
Manager, Field Operations
Samuel Thomas
Samuel works alongside the Firefly designers to solve homeowner's problems, large or small, He applies his technical training and experience as a certified Landscape Technician along with the skills learned in his business management degree.
Samuel and his team work diligently and with an eye on leaving a property better in all ways, bringing new life to overgrown spaces.
Because of Samuel's expertise, Firefly Exteriors offers seasonal maintenance for any exterior needs, residential or commercial. Plans allow for regular check-ins, solutions based in non-toxic answers, and a way for landscape to appear natural and beautiful.
